Make & bake the cake mix according the preparations on the box, swapping the vegetable oil for unsweetened applesauce (if you prefer)
Poke holes all over the top of the cake with a large fork, knife, or wooden stick
Make the jello by boiling 1 cup of water, adding the jello packet and mixing until dissolved. Add 1 cup cold water and stir to combine.
Pour the entire jello mixture on the top of the cake, filling in all of the holes.
Chill in fridge for a couple of hours until cake is completely cold.
In a mixer, whip heavy whipping cream until soft peaks form. Add 1/2 cup of powdered sugar. Mix until stiff peaks or cream doesn't slide down the bowl.
Top the cake with a layer of whipped cream.
Decorate with fresh fruit such as blueberries and strawberries.
