My great-grandma's ice box cookies recipe that have a chewy middle and crispy outside. Filled with dark chocolate pretzel pieces.
1 mixing bowl
1 cookie sheet
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup butter (1 stick)
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 1/2 tsp cream of tartar
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup crushed dark chocolate covered pretzels
Mix the sugar and the butter together until smooth.
Add egg and vanilla.
Sift together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt.
Combine wet ingredients with the dry ingredients and mix until combined.
Stir in dark chocolate pretzel pieces. Roll dough into a log and wrap in plastic wrap.
Chill overnight.
Slice into 1/2 in pieces and bake at 350 for 10 minuntes. These cookies will spread to place them at least 2 inches a part.
