This crumble combines the tartness of apples with the sweetness of blackberries topped with a brown sugar and oat crumble.
For the filling
- 3 cups apples, chopped (leave skins on)
- 1 cup blackberries
- 3/4 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 2 tbsp tapioca
For the Topping
- 1 cup oats
- 3/4 cup flour
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 cup cold butter, diced
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
For the filling
Chop the apples in to 1 in pieces (keep the skins on) and place into a baking dish. Add the blackberries. Toss with lemon juice, cinnamon, and vanilla.
Pour sugar and tapioca over the apple blackberry mixture. Mix until combined. Set aside.
For the topping
In a medium bowl, combine butter, flour, oats, and cinnamon.
Cut the butter into the mixture until it resembles breadcrumbs. You can use a dough cutter, a fork, or your hands.
