Red Wine Brownies

Fudgy chocolate brownies enhanced with the fruity flavors of red wine.

Equipment

  • 1 8x8 baking dish

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 2/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 3/4 tsp sea salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup red wine
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 350F and grease a 8x8 baking dish.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, oil, vanilla, and red wine.
  • In a separate larger bowl, sift together the flour, salt, cocoa powder, powdered sugar, and sugar.
  • Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir with a wooden spoon.
  • Add the chocolate chips and stir.
  • Pour into a greased 8x8 baking dish and bake for 40-45 minutes until a toothpick comes out almost clean. You don't want to over bake these - that's what makes them fudgy.

Notes

Note: You will over bake your brownies if you use a 9x9 pan and cook for 40 minutes. If using a 9x9 pan, cut baking time to 20-25 minutes.
