Tis the season for Christmas cookies! If you were to ask me to give “my favorite things” Christmas list, Christmas cookies would be on it. They’re nostalgic, fun, and delicious. Plus, they make great hostess gifts. That’s why I’ve compiled a list of my favorite EASY Christmas cookie recipes I know you’ll love.
The holiday season can get a bit busy to say the least. And not everyone has time to spend hours crafting the perfectly decorated cookie. If you’re looking for some go-to recipes that are inexpensive, fast, easy to make, and delicious, you’ve come to the right place.
Some of these are original recipes to me and some are just my go-to favorite recipes I’ve made over the years. Just click the photos below to view the recipe!
And if you make any of these, please let me know in the comments below! I’d love to know what you think and if any of these recipes are some of your favorites as well.
1. Raspberry Thumbprint Cookies (with White Chocolate Drizzle)
Let’s start with a classic. What could possibly be more elegant than an almond shortbread filled with raspberry jam and drizzled with white chocolate? Check out this perfect Christmas party treat.
2. Peanut Butter Blossoms
I’m a sucker for these things. I make them every year and eat way too many of them. My favorite recipe is simply the one that used to be on the back of the Hershey Kisses bag. Now it just says “make cookies” which isn’t super helpful. I replaced the shortening for butter and rolled just the tops of the cookies in red and green sprinkles.
3. Nutella Stuffed Ginger Cookies
Soft, chewy, chocolate ginger cookies stuffed with Nutella, need I say more? These cookies are the most complex of the bunch only because you fill them with Nutella. But the extra few minutes it takes putting the Nutella in the center makes them TOTALLY worth it.
4. RumChata Cookies
A grown up version of a snickerdoodle topped with a RumChata buttercream frosting. We always have RumChata at Christmastime so these cookies are a natural fit for the season. The alcohol cooks out of the actual cookie (so they can be family-friendly) but adding some RumChata to the buttercream takes these over the top.
5. Pecan Snowball Cookies
Melt in your mouth vanilla shortbread filled with chopped pecans and rolled in powdered sugar to look like a snowball. These pecan snowball cookies are a Christmas classic (and my grandma’s recipe!).
6. Cherry Cordial Cookies
These Cherry Cordial Cookies get rave reviews whenever I give them to someone. The shortbread is made with Maraschino cherries and juice and they’re topped with a cherry cordial Hershey’s Kiss.
7. Hello Dollies
Looking for an easy tray bake? This one’s for you. Just pile all the ingredients in an 8×8 pan and cut to serve. Hello Dollies have a graham cracker base, topped with chocolate chips, coconut and covered in sweetened condensed milk. This version adds an extra layer of Butterfinger pieces to take it up a notch.
8. Soft Gingerbread Cookies
These adorable little guys are way easier to make than you might think. Topped with Red Hots so you don’t even have to decorate them. 😉 Check out these soft, gingerbread cookies as well as learn some fun history facts about gingerbread.
9. Ice Box Cookies
My great-grandma’s ice box cookies recipe that have a chewy middle and crispy outside. Filled with dark chocolate pretzel pieces. Perfect for dipping in your coffee or tea on chilly, winter mornings.
10. Spritz Cookie Press Recipe
Can it get easier that spritz cookies (aka those cookies you make with a cookie press)? The trick is having dough that is soft enough to squeeze through the press but firm enough for the cookies to hold their shape. My grandma’s spritz cookie press recipe does just that.
11. Chocolate Ginger Cookies
Not into Nutella but still want to try the chocolate ginger flavor? I’ve got you covered. This chocolate ginger cookie recipe takes the chocolate flavor up a notch by adding melted chocolate and chocolate chips to the dough. Roll in sugar for a fancy finish.
12. Soft, Cut Out Butter Cookies
Last, but certainly not least are the traditional cut-out butter cookies. Top with a simple frosting of icing sugar and heavy cream (or milk) and have fun decorating. Not a great decorator? No worries, neither am I. The good news is that these cookies taste delicious no matter what they look like 😉
I hope you enjoy these cookie recipes as much as I do! I’m always on the hunt for good and easy Christmas cookie recipes so hopefully you saw one you want to try. Who knows, you may start a new family tradition.
Don’t forget to let me know in the comments below which ones are your favorites!
Merry Christmas, All!
